Diop is a master of the Senegalese talking drum. He’s most recognized in the United States for his performance on the Grammy and Oscar-winning score for the movie Black Panther. Akinsanya Kambon is the subject of an upcoming documentary “The Hero Avenges” and won the prestigious 2023 Mohn Award given by the Hammer Museum. Kambon documents suppressed histories and expresses the beauty of African heritage through his vessel, figural, and wall plaque sculptures. Examples of Kambon's ‘talking drum’ ceramics were on view at Frieze Los Angeles in the gallery's booth.
